Week 17/18/Gender

Wow! I have been slack. I think it's more that time is just flying by. Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks so I wanted to try and get a post in for my 17/18 week update plus the latest ultrasound.

We had an ultrasound at the beginning of the week and will have another in two weeks - the one in two weeks I will be taking mum to, which she has already said she will cry! But the most resent ultrasound was awesome as usual and we are pretty confident that we are having a GIRL! Que all the pink things! We both knew from day one that she was a girl!

She is perfect! Absolutely perfect! And a little wriggler. I have been feeling her alot this week. It's crazy! Richard still can't feel her yet, I can't wait til he can.

I have been struggling with server round ligament pain though - it is agony. Happens one or two days of the week for an evening and in to the early morning. I've also started sleeping in the spare room because the bed in there is softer, I have that many pillows around me I sleep in a sea of pillows, I get up around 4 times a night to pee and well I just felt like it was a good move for me til I can get comfortable and get my sleeping back to normal.

Richard has been amazing the last few weeks which has really made my anxiety settle. We have been talking more and it has just generally put me in a better mood so I stress less.

I've had appointments galore this week. From ultrasound, antenatal, physio, mental health midwife, kinesiology, gp... been very busy but everyone is happy and healthy and thats how we are working at keeping it.

12/13 Week Update

I'm not very good with these updates that's for sure.
Last week we had our 12 week scan and wow! It was an unbelievable experience. Aside from the full bladder of course. We got to watch our baby swim around my belly. It was surreal. The sonographer was amazing. The second she put the thingy on my belly you could see a fully formed little human being. Unfortunately the bay was in the worst possible position, this meant we were in there for around 30 minutes just watching it move around and taking photos. The sonographer even said she was having fun playing cat and mouse with the baby trying to get it to move in the correct position to take all the necessary measurements.

We watched the baby get the hick ups, stuck it's thumb and could even see it smiling! But because the little bugger was in the wrong position the whole time the sonographer said she couldn't even take a guess at gender (which she said she could of told us if the baby was in the right position), which was kind of disappointing cause I want to know so badly!

Everything was looking well on track though! It was simply amazing!

Here is a snap of my ever growing belly. This is 12.5 weeks. My belly feels like it is change constantly. I have been struggling with sleep alot more this week. Vivid dreams. Crazy dreams. Although when I do dream about the baby, I always see it as a girl. Not sure what that means though. We've been talking names alot and have a little list started. We are rather picky to be honest. Something simple and strong.

In other news, I plan on quitting my job this week and focusing full time on my Indie Brand (Shades Of Phoenix), with local monthly markets, more shades and new products. I'm super excited actually to get back in to it full swing and build it up again. It is a true passion and brings me joy. Plus will get me ready to be a stay at home mum.

On the 19th I have my first antenatal appointment. Apparently I'll be there for 2.5 Hrs, what do they even do for that long? No idea what to expect, lucky my mum is coming with me cause Richard used his RDO for the ultrasound and we don't want to waste to many annual leave days.

I have to say there have been more tears in the last fortnight, I think my emotions are alittle all over the place. But hopefully that is starting to settle as I think it's alot of everything feeling overwhelming still. I still have a lingering cough and a sniffle but slowly getting better. With more sleep I'm sure I will feel better in no time.

Here's to the second trimester!

Cats Out Of The Bag!

Some might have guessed with talk of changes and getting back to blogging that something was up. Well, here it is. I'm pregnant! My husband and I are having our first baby.
I think I'm still in shock at the idea of having something growing inside me but today was our very first ultrasound and still all I can do is giggle in between my exhaustion.

I plan on blogging throughout the whole pregnancy, more of a way to keep my own record of everything. Plus week by week updates and progress reports.

Today's ultrasound showed one very strong little bean with a heart rate of 158 bpm and measuring 7 weeks and 1 day, although by my calculations I'm 7 weeks 4 days. The ultrasound guy said I could go by my dates because they were in the 6 days they leave for error. So we are looking at a Winter baby, 18-22 July, 2015.

It has honestly been the worst kept secret. Close family knew the week I knew and close friends were very close behind. I know announcing early isn't the 'done' thing in some peoples eyes and I respect that. For me though I wanted to celebrate and scream it from the roof the second I found out - more so to make it real for myself I think. But also because if anything was to go wrong (which touch wood, doesn't) I would have the love and support I'd need.

I have been very lucky with minimal to no morning sickness, just a bit of nausea here and there. I have been very hungry and extremely tried. The exhaustion is a whole new thing that I can't even put in to words. It's not a tiredness I've ever felt before, I don't even know if tired and exhausted are ever the right words to describe it. Sometimes it gets unbearable and frustrating. Like tonight, I'm very tried (but not sleeping tired), getting a headache and have so much I need to do but I need to accept that it's not going to get done which is hard. My husband has been a huge help but sometimes I just need to leave the house messier then I'd like it to be.

We've started a list of names that we like and have a few of the larger nursery items already on layby - we are seriously the easiest couple when it comes shopping for baby. Pram, car seat, cot and change table are all on layby and out of the way. Which has definitely made things a lot less stressful financially. I have the hope and plan to have a Lion themed nursery as well.

So much going on, I have to admit it can get overwhelming, scaring and confusing at times. Everything my body and mind are going through is completely new to me. And at times I feel like I'm totally alone. But then the hormones past and everything is ok. And now they I have our first ultrasound picture I have visual proof of everything that is happening which makes it easier.

Hopefully this week I will get some photos and my first week by week update written up and ready to post so hopefully you'll join me on this crazy ride!
